Withdrawals and Trade Holds

Withdrawal is where most disputes happen, almost always because a condition that existed from the start gets read for the first time at that moment. Two of the five common causes are Valve's and no platform can override them.

Hold without authenticator: up to 15 daysAuthenticator age needed: 7 daysSteam market fee: ~15%

Two routes out, two rulebooks

Withdrawing an item and withdrawing money are separate procedures under separate authorities. Taking an item means a Steam trade, and from that point Valve's rules apply rather than the platform's: if the mobile authenticator has not been active for at least seven days, items are held for up to fifteen, and no operator can shorten or bypass that. Taking money means moving a balance off the platform, where the operator's limits, identity verification and any wagering requirement from a bonus apply instead. Worth deciding before the first deposit rather than after a win: the item route ends in your Steam inventory, and realising that value means selling on the Community Market at roughly 15% in fees, with the proceeds staying in the Steam wallet where they cannot be withdrawn to a bank. So the item route converts one closed currency into another. The money route is the only one that leaves the ecosystem, and it is also the one with identity verification attached.

The five reasons a withdrawal stalls

Three of these are on your side of the line and can be checked in minutes. Working out which one applies before contacting anyone saves days, because a ticket sent to the wrong party is not rejected — it waits for someone to forward it.

Note the split: trade holds, account restrictions and the inventory cap are Valve's and are resolved through Steam Support. Verification and wagering are the platform's. We are neither, and have no access to any account — what we can fix is an error in what is written here.

Test the exit before you need it

Make the first withdrawal a test rather than a finale. Deposit the minimum, do one thing, then immediately request the smallest permitted withdrawal and time it. The cost is known in advance and usually less than a single premium case, and it answers the two questions no amount of reading can: whether withdrawal completes at all, and whether the stated processing time is real. It also tends to surface the missing step — unfinished verification, an unread condition — while the stakes are trivial, and how you are told about it is itself a data point. The opposite order, depositing heavily and withdrawing only after a run, concentrates every unknown at the moment the stakes are highest, which is exactly how the disputes in this category are generated. Before any of it, check the account basics: sign-in through Steam passes a platform your public ID, name and avatar and never your password, which is only ever entered on a page belonging to Valve.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my CS2 items held for 15 days?

Because the Steam Guard mobile authenticator has not been active on your account for at least seven days. Valve holds traded items for up to fifteen days in that case, and no third-party platform can shorten it.

How long does a CS2 skin withdrawal take?

Minutes to a few hours when the authenticator has been active for seven days or more. Otherwise Valve's hold applies. Cash withdrawals depend on the platform's verification and limits.

Why was my withdrawal rejected?

Most often incomplete identity verification, an unmet wagering requirement from a bonus, a private Steam inventory, or a full inventory — the CS2 cap is 1000 items.

How much does selling a skin on Steam cost?

About 15%: a 5% Steam fee plus a 10% game fee. The proceeds stay in the Steam wallet and cannot be withdrawn outside the Valve ecosystem.
